Probably one of the better GW soundtracks I've found
it's really inspiring once you play through the game and listen

Already mentioned, but yes, check out Hans Zimmer (Lion King, Gladiator, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, The Last Samurai).

There's also James Newton Howard (Blood Diamond and also co-worked with Zimmer for both Batman movies).

And Clint Mansell (Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Smokin Aces).

A number already mentioned (various Hans Zimmer soundtracks, Clint Mansell for sure, Lord of the Rings).

I'd add The Insider, Hero, Solaris, Kundun, Babel, and The Assassination of Jesse James. All good. All very different than some of the others mentioned. I suppose it depends on how one defines "breathtaking", but also what style of soundtrack you're in the mood to listen to.

Even though its TV, I feel I should also mention the Battlestar Galactica soundtracks. Very, very good soundtracks — especially Seasons 1-3. The Miniseries is good, but not as good. These soundtracks are better than many movies, especially if you like Hans Zimmer. Season 3 is probably my favorite. Season 2 might be even better, but they are all good. Check them out for sure.

Finally, if we are to stray out of simply movies and add games or anything else, I'll nominate an anime soundtrack — Death Note Original Soundtrack I — as something worthy of looking into. The others in the series are good too, but this first soundtrack is amazing. Go find it. Doesnt matter what you think of anime.

if you like the 'classical' styles ...I will have to go back before 2000 (as I dont think beside lotr that I have even been to many moives)..

great composers of our time and SOME of the works they have composed:
John Williams --jaws, star wars, close encounters, et, indiana jones, harry potter.....
Jerry Goldsmith--star trek voyager, st:tmp, gremlins, poltergist (both), st:tng, the mummy, star trek nemesis,.....

James Horner--apollo 13, jumanji, braveheart, krull, troy, titanic, aliens....

these are some of the great composers of our time...unfortuneately jerry has passed on....but if you wiki them you will see the total sum of their works.

The movie 300 itself is full of shht, but the soundtrack is just... awesome.

The bulgarian theme Tyler Bates edited is fantastic (yeah, the songs are bulgarian folk songs).

Goodbye My Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um0So5Sbqw0

Or the most epic song in the movie, Returns A King: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QVVHTBAA-VU

Also, To Victory: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5sX4W...eature=related

Those songs are really great, atleast for me.

Event Horizon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ssgJ5ruuKH4) also did it for me. Oh and I remember being a huge fan of Requiem For A Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e2Ma4BvMUwU) and Pi (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9XZjNoEQj5s). Haven't listened to either of these 3 in quite some time now though.

Oh gosh - and Alone In The Dark songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FNCbXqwQzsY) sung by The Women's Choir of Sofia (http://www.bulgarianvoices.com/en/wchoir.html).

That's probably the reason why I love the Venetian-inspired Luxon 15k male mesmer mask so much!

Definitely, I have all 3 soundtracks

The movie Speed had a good soundtrack very similar to metal gear. American Pie and Van Wilder had lots of good songs mostly Blink 182 and Sum 41 stuff. Fight Club is one of my favorite soundtracks, but i dont know the band that made the songs.
